Elementary School Clubs

As an elementary school, you have options when it comes to posting clubs on your school’s web site. Because you do not currently fall under the same legal requirement that middle and high school must follow, I recommend using one of two possible methods of listing your clubs:

  1. Use the Extracurricular Activities form that must be used by all middle and high schools to enter all their extracurricular activities (athletics, clubs and organization).  For the sake of commonality across all schools, it would be ideal to include elementary school activities (clubs), but it is not currently required.  If you choose this method, the form to submit information about each club can be found at: http://districtcollaboration.ocps.net/team/SettlementAgreement/SitePages/Extracurricular%20Activities.aspx   If you choose this option, please let me know because I will have to install the report page to display your school’s information on your site (It is a Reporting Services report.) Also there is an approval process so clubs submitted with this form may not appear in the Reporting Services report for a few days.
  2. You can create a ‘page’ on your site for your Clubs PDF.  For example, you could create an external link page under Parents, Students, or School Information named: Clubs that opens a PDF in a separate window by using the link type File System to reference the PDF stored in your school’s File Manager.  (You cannot provide a PowerPoint or Word Document to the public because not everyone (alas!) has Microsoft products on their home machines or even phones.  However, you can save the PowerPoint or Word document as a PDF by changing the File Type in the Save menu to PDF. Then saving the PDF in your school’s File Manager.)   If you want to have a link to your clubs under more than one dropdown menu, use the same steps to create additional external link pages to the same PDF file under each main menu section where you want it to appear.
  3. If instead of a PDF of your clubs, you may want to have a page for each club. In this case, create the physical pages for the each club (or one page listing all of them) in one place under one menu section. If you want to have links to those club pages from another menu section, use the External Link Page option with the link type of Internal Page to reference the club pages previously created under the first menu section.
