One of the features that school sites have that district departments do not have (at least officially) is social media sites. SchoolMessenger provides the ability to easily add icons for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube in the bottom right of the footer for each page of the school site. This means that visitors to your school site can get to your major social media venues from any page without having to navigate back to the home page of your site.

Wait a minute you say. The first three make sense, but why is Email Address mapped to Instagram. Honestly, I don’t know, but it is. In fact, I only discovered that relationship as I was preparing this blog.
Unfortunately, the settings to define these links are ‘hidden’ in the Server Information tab of the Server Settings page under Administrate for each school. Since most users cannot update this information (as well as other information in the school footer such as addresses and phone numbers, you can easily request updates to this information by sending an email to presence@ocps.net
