Open Labs: What Are They?

Open labs occur once a month, usually the second Monday of the month on the 5th floor of the RBELC (Ronald Blocker Education Learning Center).  An open lab is:

  • someplace you can come to just quietly work on your web site away from distractions;
  • a place where you can to ask questions about specific things you are trying to do on your site or on a page;
  • a place to learn how to use the tools effectively to display your content;
  • a common place to get help for both your public-facing school web site and your internal collaboration site.

An open lab is not:

  • a training class;
  • an introduction to either portal, public-facing or collaboration;
  • a place to get someone else to built out your site or pages for you.

Beginners should start by at least watching the videos found at https://intranet.ocps.net/departments/chief_communications_office/web_and_technology_services/help_tips_training/school_sites/School%20Training%20Videos/ for the public facing portal sites or videos found at: https://www.youtube.com/user/ocpswebservices for collaboration sites.
